Since RPGs are about building a unique character that fits your choice of play style, leveling up can get complicated. There's learning to do when you're new to a game. The other choice is to go by trial and error, where mistakes in character improvements can make it hard to play.
On the other hand, there are usually how-to guides that describe time-tested ways to make each type of character strong. These guides are usually written by players who've gone before you and found the combinations of abilities that make for a successful game.

Games give players ways of recruiting each other for activities. The recruiting tools include either chat channels, in-game forums, a specific place for finding adventurers, and combinations of these. When friends aren't online, players will turn to these recruiting channels to find people to help attack computer-controlled enemies, which is usually called a hunt.
